We study volume and total surface area of a prism.
A prism is a solid with two parallel polygon for its end faces and a uniform cross-section. Each face is a base and a prism is named by the shape of its base. Hence we have triangular prism, rectangular prism, pentagonal prism, etc.
The perpendicular distance between the two bases of a prism is called its height. The other faces of a prism are called lateral faces. For now, we shall only consider those right prisms whose lateral faces are rectangles.
The volume of a prism = Base area * Height
Total surface area of a prism = perimeter of the base * Height + 2 * (Base area)
