The American Mathematics Contest 10 (AMC 10), along with the AMC 12, is one of the first exams in the series of exams used to challenge bright students, grades 10 and below, on the path towards choosing the team that represents the United States at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). The AMC 10 is a 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice test. Problems generally increase in difficulty as the exam progresses. This course (5 classes, 2 hours each) is designed to boost problem-solving skills and cover topics including arithmetic, algebra, counting, geometry, number theory, probability, etc. Students who have a strong foundation in math are encouraged. [Gr. 8-10]

The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice contest for students in grades 8 and below, hosted annually by the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC). Problems generally increase in difficulty as the exam progresses. This course (10 classes, 1 hour each) is designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills (with an emphasis on Questions #15-25), and cover topics including counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, algebra, geometry, spatial visualization, and reading & interpreting graphs/tables, etc. Students who have a strong foundation in math are encouraged. [Gr. 5-8]
From 10/19 to 1/11, Thursdays, 7-8 pm, online
Class meets on 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 1/4, 1/11
No class on November 24, December 21 & 28
