NCLS Weekly Newsletter 11/17/2011

 Dear NCLS parents:

Last week’s midterm exam went smoothly. Your child(ren) will  get their test score and test paper back on Sunday. Please go over the exam with them and make sure they understand what they have learned since the beginning of this semester.

As one of the traditions at NCLS, we will celebrate Thanksgiving on this Saturday, November 19. You will enjoy the performance by various NCLS performing art classes and students. From singing to dancing, from YOYO playing to poem reciting, a full list of program will present you endless excitement, happiness, joy and thanksgiving. Kids from all ages can participate in games and win a small prize. For ballroom dance fans, it is the chance to heat up the floor and show your moves. It will be a night packed with fun and laughter for the whole family. We welcome you and your family to come and join us for this special night.

When: This Saturday, November 19, 2011, 7 PM

Place: ACAS ActivityCenter, 29 Montvale Ave, Woburn, MA 01801

Ticket: $10/person, $20/family

You can purchase the ticket at the door.

In addition to the performances and dancing, refreshment and drinks will be provided at the party. For young children and seniors, PCC has prepared following activities:

Needham Chinese New Year Party

Chinese New Year Party in Needham will be on 1/14/2012 (Saturday) at the Needham Middle School. It start at 6:00pm and finish by 11:00pm. We will have traditional Potluck, Kid’s talent show, “红包”distribution, Adults Social  and a Grand Performance Show. The party is free, but  at door suggested donation will be $10 per family, $5 per individual. Pre-registration is required. Please contact Ms. Dongdong at dongdong@wi.mit.edu ASAP, and provide your family information, include parent’s Chinese name, kid’s name, home address, phone number and kid’s school.

Lexington Education Foundation’s Multicultural Bazaar, December 8


Lexington Education Foundation will hold its first annual Global Treasures Multicultural Bazaar on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Lexington Depot, 13 Depot Square, Lexington, 2:30-7:30 pm.  This event will celebrate Lexington’s diverse student population and promote awareness of LEF’s work supporting teacher initiatives in our schools.
 
Global Treasures will feature global gifts created by talented local artisans and designers.  It will also include
live music and dance performances by children, highlighting a variety of world traditions.  Families will enjoy art and history demonstrations by LEF grant recipients who were awarded study programs in Africa, China, and India.
 
Shubrah Design, MITTI pottery studio, Kinara, and Mei Mei Jewelry are samples of the kinds of vendor who will be present.  Live acts will include performances from The Lexington Chamber Music Youth Ensemble, the Clarke Middle-Cs, Academy of Irish Dance, Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Association Yoyo Group, Lexington Chamber Music Center and the American Chinese Art Society Dance Troup, to name a few.
 
Clarke Middle School Visual Arts Teacher, Althea Roy, and LHS World History teachers Julia Kuo and Brooke Forrelli will demonstrate how their study tours of China and India enhance their teaching. A full list of vendors and schedule of performers will be available on the LEF website at lexedfoundation.org.
