Remind your 《中文》class parents to print the review material for students

The mid-term exam reviews have been posted online and in this week’s newsletter to all parents. Please remind the parents of your students to print their own copies and bring to school this Sunday.

What to do when the classroom wasn’t cleaned

Several teachers reported to Admin last week that some classrooms had not been cleaned by Day School before Sunday, there were scattered debris on the floors. If you find the situation in your classroom, please let school know as soon as possible before the school session ends, so we can let Day School’s janitor to look at it and avoid any misunderstanding.

Storage Room

If you have anything stored in the Storage Room in the library, please note that we have moved last Sunday.  The new Storage Room is located next to the old Storage Room in the library. Our designated space is the two bookshelves in the far end.  Due to the limited space in the new Storage Room, please take your stuff with you if possible.

为了感谢教职员工及其家属们的辛劳奉献，也为了给大家提供一个相互交流的机会，家长会将协助校行政于十二月十五日6:15pm—10:30pm 在剑桥中文学校举办“教职员工及家属联欢会”。秉承去年的联欢形式，我们将组织美食评比，文艺节目，全家福摄影，颁发教师奖项，如时间充足，还可组织学跳集体舞，唱卡拉OK; 希望大家踊跃参与。 同去年一样，我们还将邀请家属(包括老人和孩子)与教职员工， 成人助教，代课老师，校行政，董事会成员，家长会成员一起共度良宵。学校将委派刘茹，楼一平和许华老师主要负责。在家长会的协作下，相信大家一定会度过一个愉快的夜晚。

家长会and 喜洋洋乐团will conduct this year’s Teachers’ Appreciation Party on November 10, 2012 at 7pm in ACAS Center, 29 Montvale Ave. Woburn.  Flyers will be posted in school, and tickets will be given to teachers. Program details will be provided soon.

Dear Teachers:

There isn’t school this Sunday; hope you enjoy a relaxing long weekend.

The school has been one month into the new school year. Thank you for your dedicated work that has made the first month a smooth ride.

As you are getting to know your students better, please encourage and help them to participate the Chinese language activities, such as the writing competition, the speech contest, etc. We all might have had the experiences that, one or some teachers had been the inspiration in our lives. Dear All,

        It is Mid-Autumn Festival on Sunday; we are very happy to celebrate the holiday together as a big family this year at NCLS! Every faculty’s family, including teachers, adult teaching assistants, and school Admin, will get a box of moon cake. Hope you will enjoy it!

        The Teachers’ Evaluation team had the kick-off meeting last week; they will start their first meeting with this semester’s teacher participants on Sunday. Let’s wish the team and our teacher participants having a smooth start and accomplishing a successful process.

        Our teaching blogs have drawn more and more attention from all viewers. We’d like to remind you about copyrights of internet resources – our teaching blog is one of the internet resources too. Please do not just make copy+paste of other teacher’s blog contents into your own blog. If there is an interesting idea on another blog, and you might want to learn from it, then please make citation. Please cite the author and/or provide the link to the resource when integrating the idea in your blog. School has started to work on documenting a guidance regarding this operation.

        The writing competition has been extended to Oct. 15, 2012. Please refer to the notes below from school journal’s. Thank you for your participation and support to this event!

        We have had a meeting with Day School Principal today and have exchanged information regarding the first two school weeks, and our work plans for the rest of the school year. The Principal was impressed by our plans and the actions our teachers have taken since the start of our school. Apparently he hasn’t received any complain about us from his teachers in this school year. And, he very much appreciate the effort of our teachers’ on establishing communication with each Day School teachers sharing the classrooms.

The NECLTA (New England Chinese Language Teachers Association) will hold its inaugural conference at Tufts University on Saturday October 6th this year. Both registration and lunch are free. Please refer to the conference information at the end of this post.

The NECLTA (New England Chinese Language Teachers’ Association) is very pleased to announce this Call for Registration for its first conference to celebrate its establishment.  We have received a large number of high quality proposals for the conference presentations. It will be a great academic and professional gathering for the Chinese language teachers of all levels in the New England area and other regions in the US and in the world to exchange ideas, sharing experiences and partaking of the results of research.  Anyone who is interested to attend is welcome to register online and participate.  Here is the information about the conference:

Regarding the TD phasing out, the school has not received any special TD request from any of our teachers. NCLS has decided that TD process will be completely removed from the registration option. 1. 牛顿牛顿中文学校首届“星光”杯作文大赛

为提高我校广大学生的中文阅读和写作兴趣，由校刊编辑部倡导，并经校领导批准，从2012年起，我校将于每学年上半年举行一次作文比赛。时值美东地区第一届少年儿童中文写作大赛拉开帷幕，作为这次活动的协办单位，我们同步推出牛顿中文学校首届“星光”杯作文大赛。现将有关事项通知如下：
 
一、比赛时间： 从即日起至9月29日。

二、比赛对象： 牛顿中文学校1－10年级学生。比赛分成三组：儿童组（6至8岁）、少儿组（9至11岁）以及少年组（12至14 岁）。

三、比赛方法: 比赛的作文命题分别是“我最尊敬的人”、“我的暑假生活”和“我爱我家”。参赛者可任选一题写一篇叙述文，儿童组200字；少儿组300字；少年组 400字。

四、投稿方式： 请以电子邮件(纯文本格式)发送文稿至校刊主编信箱： editor@newtonchineseschool.org；纸质来稿（手写或者打印）请联系校刊主任：唐微， smilingtang@gamil.com, 617-935-3689。请在邮件“主题”栏注明“作文大赛”字样，并在文末提供作者本人姓名，班级和联系方式。

美东地区首届少年儿童中文写作大赛

由《侨报》、《侨报周末》和亚洲文化中心主办的“美东地区第一届少年儿童中文写作大赛”现已拉开帷幕，即日起接受报名。赛区包括美东和大芝加哥地区。初赛和决赛得主将获得奖金和奖牌。本届大赛由美东华人社团联合总会协办。

大赛分为初赛和决赛。初赛设纽约、新泽西、费城、大华府、波士顿、芝加哥6个赛区。各赛区初赛结果将于10月揭晓。总决赛将于11月11日在纽约曼哈顿中城举行。

来美三年以上，年龄在6至14岁的中文学校学生或中文自学者均可参加比赛。大赛分为儿童组(6至8岁)、少儿组（9至11岁）、少年组（12至14岁）。比赛的作文命题分别是“我最尊敬的人”、“我的暑假生活”、“我爱我家”，参赛者可任选一题写一篇叙述文，儿童组200字；少儿组300字；少年组400字。电脑打字或手写汉字，简体、繁体均可。稿纸规格请统一使用Letter Size, 手写汉字文稿适当加分。

各赛区中文学校负责收集学生的参赛作文连同报名表（报名表见本次大赛广告），在截止日前交到本赛区《侨报周末》办公室，参加初选。非中文学校学生可在截止日前将参赛作文连同报名表寄至或送交《侨报周末》在当地的办公室。参赛截止日为2012年9月29日。

初赛结果将于9月中旬揭晓并刊登在当地《侨报周末》上。初赛颁奖典礼将于9月下旬在当地举行。各赛区组委会将本赛区各年龄组一等奖作品交到纽约《侨报》总部，统一参加同龄组总决赛评分，作者则于11月11日（周日）上午10时至12时，在纽约曼哈顿中城亚洲文化传媒集团12楼多功能厅参加总决赛现场评分。总决赛现场评分包括中文朗诵作品，回答有关中文和中国文化的基本问题等。总决赛名次将当场公布并随即举行颁奖典礼。  

各赛区初赛设一等奖一名，二等奖两名，三等奖三名，优胜奖、鼓励奖若干名。初赛一等奖奖金300元，二等奖200元，三等奖100元，并获颁奖状或奖牌。优胜奖、鼓励奖将获颁奖状、奖牌或证书。

总决赛设各年龄组一等奖一名，奖金500元、二等奖两名，奖金各300元、三等奖三名，奖金各200元，另设优胜奖若干名，优胜奖将获颁奖状或奖牌。此外，主办单位鼓励各赛区中文学校或相关机构积极组织、推荐学生参赛。此次大赛将评出“组织奖”若干名并颁发奖状。

此次大赛的评委将由具有公信力和权威性的中国语言文字专家、中文教育专家、儿童教育专家、华人家长代表（非参赛学生家长）、主办单位代表、赞助单位代表等组成。

Dear teachers:

Most Chinese classes will have final exams on this coming Sunday. NCLS admin would like to take this opportunity to have a face to face meeting with all NCLS teachers. In this meeting, we will summarize NLCS activities in 2011-2012 school year, discuss about removing TD process in the next school year, give out the certificates brought back from ACS meeting and announce new principals for 2012-2013 school year.

We plan to have the meeting from 2:15 to 2:45 pm in Room 222. Please do your best to attend this meeting. If you need temporary teaching assistants to help you managing your classes when you attend the meeting, please email 许华 juliahx@gmail.com and 刘茹ruliu17@yahoo.com to get the extra help.
