In the year 2013, NCLS steps into the 54th year of its history.  It has been a history of hard work and success, and a history of all families’ participation and team effort. Looking into the upcoming Spring semester, we are passionate，confident and energetic. Let’s keep up our good job, and work together to build the bright future for NCLS!

NCLS Teachers’ Club has been established

教师俱乐部是我校教师自己组织并受到学校支持的健身娱乐团体。它为我校教职员工提供一个兴趣开拓,  自娱自乐,  健身减压,  交流情感,  增进友谊，分享收获的平台。 学校鼓励大家在新的一年里重视身心健康，积极参与有益健康的活动, 使我们的教工队伍更加团结, 更有活力, 充满朝气。俱乐部由蔡洁和赵咏梅两位老师发起，以下是她们提供的活动内容。全体教职员工都能自愿参加活动和组织其中的兴趣项目。教师俱乐部的活动将发表在学校网站内。各专项兴趣组将由具体负责的老师建立联系Email-list。活动的必要经费由成员自行筹款和学校资助组成。

– 专题讲座:  家庭生活,  教学体会,  心理健康，兴趣爱好,  投资技巧,  园艺培植

– 厨艺交流:  介绍一道拿手菜，甜点示范，养生进补

– 健身健美: 学跳健身操, 定期健身练习, 训练教师服装表演队，成立腰鼓队

– 才艺分享: 诗歌, 音乐, 茶道, 手工制作. 插花, 绘画鉴赏

– 户外郊游

– 参与组织教职工节目演出，节目排练

我校教师服装表演队已成功组织了数年，也将是教师俱乐部的活动项目之一。赵咏梅老师继续负责表演队的组织，排练和活动。该队现有十多位老师，并且欢迎更多的成员参加！有意参加的老师请发Email给赵咏梅老师：maryzhao718@gmail.com

教师俱乐部现推出“牛顿教师腰鼓队”项目，由蔡洁老师负责组织，并教授腰鼓。计划在春节后开始在业余时间上课和练习，初步打算招收十二位成员，教材选用国家体委健身腰鼓规定套路。有兴趣参加的老师请发Email给蔡洁老师：jiecai2004@yahoo.com

其它活动将陆续推出，请拭目以待。

Happy New Year!

The school will celebrate the Chinese New Year on 2/3/2013 (in-school) and 2/16/2012 (Regis College). 亲爱的全体教职员工:

上个星期六的全校教职工联欢会开得很热烈。大家平时工作繁忙，这次都非常高兴能有机会欢聚一堂。中文组，美术组，健身和舞蹈组，体育组，数学组，和校行政都各有代表上台表演，新老师们积极踊跃，身手不凡！美食大赛体现了大家今年在色、香、味、形各方面匠心独具，水平更上了一层楼！

2012年十二月份的工资将在2013年一月初发，因为去年十二月的工资是今年一月发的，今年已经发了十二个月的工资。

下一次课是元旦以后了，一月六号。上星期发生在康州小学的枪击事件令人悲痛，发人深省。校行政和家长会将共同复查和增订我校有关安全和疏散方面的措施，请参考给全体家长的公开信：http://blog.newtonchineseschool.org/

We are having the last school session in 2012 on this Sunday. Thank you so much for your hard work, together we have made another successful year for NCLS!

 Dear teachers:

While some major holidays are approaching, students are getting much excited, and the classes can be overwhelming. We need to keep emphasizing on classroom discipline to our students, especially before the holidays and vacations.

There was an “accident” recently happened in a younger students’ classroom, a student fell off the chair when she was tilting the chair completely backward. The classroom teacher had taken immediate actions calming and comforting the student, explaining to the parent, and giving a follow-up call to the family in the night on the same day.

The teacher has handled the accident efficiently. But, let’s be aware of  what is going on in our classrooms, give positive disciplines to students, and prevent the accident from happening. Please share this reminder with your teaching assistants.

 Performance application for Chinese New Year celebration

NCLS will have in-school Chinese New Year celebration on February 3, 2013, and out-school celebration on February 16, 2013 in Regis College. All NCLS classes and local performing troops are eligible to apply for performing on stage during these two celebration. The performance application dead line is 12/31/2012.         相信大家都度过了一个轻松愉快的感恩节周末。继11月10日的感恩节联欢晚会之后，接下来学校和家长会为全体教职员工及家属举办的教职员工联欢会将于12月15日星期六在剑桥中文学校举行。

我校送出了全部24位学生参赛的作文, 参加美东地区第一届少年儿童中文写作大赛波士顿赛区比赛。 学生们取得了优异的成绩！共获得了七个奖，少年组第一名被选派参加美东地区写作大赛。热烈祝贺校刊和指导老师们的辛勤工作取得了丰硕成果！

Dear teachers:

Hope you and your family have done well with the storm and stayed calm!

The Daytime Savings ends on Sunday at 2am. Please set your clock back an hour.

Our 《中文》classes are having the mid-term exam on Sunday. If your class has the exam, please ask your teaching assistant to pick up the testing sheets in the library before 2pm.  

Our normal procedure for the monthly payroll is, the payroll file is made after the last school session of each month; and the file is being submitted to the bank on the Wednesday after the last school session; then, it takes about one week for the bank to process the file and the postal mail to arrive at individual’s home address.

Unfortunately we have been experiencing a delay in the October payroll file submission due to hardware issue. Up to this time, the file is not able to be submitted to the bank yet.  We are hoping that the issue can be resolved by Monday, if not today; and we expect that everyone will receive the pay check in the week of Nov. 12. Thank you for your understanding!
