NCLS Principals’ Notes

Dear NCLS Families:

As we are dealing with the heartbreaking tragedy happened last Friday in Sandy Hook Elementary school, NCLS principals and admin staff have met on Sunday afternoon, to discuss about our school’s action plan for protecting our students and enhancing the security awareness in the NCLS community. We would like to share with you the following information:

  • The principals will communicate with their entire faculty and staff to discuss about emergency evacuation plan and the strategic acts to be taken in case of emergencies.
  • The school will review and update the instruction for parents’ duty tasks, especially for traffic control and school building patrol.
  • The school will review and update the fire drill procedure. A fire drill will be conducted in January, 2013 as we have planned.
  • New policies will be in place regarding submitting inquiries at school’s help desk for child(ren)s’ information, such as which class(es) a student takes and which classroom a student is in. Parents’ official name in English will be required in each family account, parents’ official ID, such as driver’s license, will be required at the time of inquiry.

We want to emphasize that students’ safety is our top priority; and our goal is to assure that NCLS is a safe and encouraging learning place for our students. We are here to work with all parents to make our school one of the best for our children’s education and their mental and physical growth.

If you have any concerns and/or advices, please communicate with us via email at principals@newtonchineseschool.org, or come to the school library to meet and talk with us in person. Thank you for your attention.

Have a safe and wonderful winter vacation. We look forward to seeing you when school resumes on January 6th, 2013.

Best wishes,

Nan and Guangsong
