Letter to NCLS teachers on 1-May-2014

Dear Teachers,

Hope you had a nice spring break! Our school will resume this coming Sunday 5/4.  Welcome back!

1. Double check your class student list

Our spring semester has passed half way now.  Please double check your class student list in your teaching system to make sure that the list matches the attendance.  If you have trouble get the list from the system, please let us know.

(NEACS) Speech Contest 4/26

This year, our school gave strong support to NEACS in organizing the annual speech contest.  From selecting the judges to volunteering work in the contest, our school has played a major role in this event.  Our student contestants have demonstrated superior skills in the contest and earned many awards (please see this week’s newsletter for contest details).  In the upcoming May ACS conference (5/24 and 5/25), our school will continue to be the host to the speech contest in the conference.  If you plan to join the conference and are willing to do some volunteer work in the speech contest, please let us know.

3. How to read the stipend code on the payment check:   S-工资,A-教师会补贴(包括培训),B-其它补助(包括代课、稿费等)

4.  New England Chinese Language Teacher Conference

The 25th New England Chinese Language Teacher Conference is Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the University of Massachusetts Boston CAPS Facilities, 150 Mount Vernon Street (near the Doubltree Hotel). Registration is open: http://www.umb.edu/academics/caps/centers/cpc/teachers-network

The focus of the 25th NECLTN Conference is instructional resources and lesson unit models that support teaching and learning in 21st Century Chinese Language classrooms: Designing Thematic Units. And, similar to Fall, we will limit the number of participants to 50 to enable the instructors to work with everyone during the hands-on portion of the day. Registration is a first-come-first serve basis and will close when we reach 50 participants.

There are 2 steps to complete your registration. First, fill out and submit the online form and you will receive an email confirmation with explanation of how to process the $20 payment. Since the payment needs to arrive to complete your registration, online registration (step 1) will close May 9th by 2pm. Please mail your $20 checks immediately after receiving your confirmation. Renee will send an agenda to the fully registered group on May 17th with a receipt of payment.

Thank you for your cooperation,
