Dear Teachers/TAs:
This Sunday will be our first day of 2012 Spring Semester. At the beginning of the new semester, we want to thank you for efforts in the past semester. Working together, we have accomplished a lot in the past semester. Let’s continue our great efforts in the new semester and make it a more productive one.
1. January pay check:
To reward the achievement accomplished by our teachers and staffs, NCLS will give out bonus at the end of Fall semester. For the month of January, in addition to the regular four weeks salary, you will receive addtional two weeks salary including your years of service. Grade leaders will receive additional $75 and teachers who do not use parking permit will be compensated with $20. For K-grade, the class with students over 18 and other classes with students over 20 will receive additional compensation. As an extra compensation for the recent change of TD policy, every teacher will receive a $50 extra gift card and every adult TA will receive a $15 gift card.
The gift cards will be distributed next Sunday. For people who provided W-2 to our school accountant, you should receive your pay check, which including the bonus and additional payment, in your mail in the next few days.
2. Student list of 2012 Spring Semester
There may be some changes to your class list and TAs. We will download the most updated student list and deliver to your classroom on Sunday (2/5/2012). Please spend a few minutes of you precious time to check your students against this most updated list. Please write down the name and phone# of those students whose names are not on the list.
3. School Rules
Please continue to remind your students that food is not allowed in the classroom and the only place they can have their food is in cafeteria. Also, please remind them to respect school properties, absolutely no drawing or writing on the desk. Thank you for your support.

5. NCLS Chinese Year Celebration:
We will have in school CNY celebration this Sunday in the auditorium from 2 pm to 5 pm . All parents are welcome to join the celebration. During the show, students who are not performing will remain in their classrooms. Also, students finished their performance will be required to return to their classroom and continue the class.
Another performance will take place at Newton North High School on Feb. 11th from 7 pm to 10 pm. We still have tickets left and please stop by the library to purchase the tickets.
6. 演讲比赛
为加强我校学生的中文口语能力和丰富中文教学活动，并且为参与波士顿地区和美东中文学校协会举办的演讲比赛，学校决定在三月十八日举行四年级至十年级的在校学生演讲比赛。比赛将分为两组（包括马立平班）：4—6年级为中年级组，7—10年级为高年级组。
为了办好这次活动，各年级组长和老师将安排各班在二月二十六日之前进行班级内选拔赛，并将班级选出的优胜者报到学校，截止日期为三月四日。每班可选出一到两名优胜者。
比赛的原则是：时间两分三十秒至三分钟，题目自定。要求吐字清晰，表情真挚，具有知识性和趣味性，并能背诵下来。
具体比赛规则和细节由各年级自定。之后，在班级比赛的基础上，学校将请一些有经验的老师为学校范围的比赛定出具体的规则和细节。
