Letter to NCLS Teachers 5-Feb-2015

Dear Teachers:

This coming Sunday (2/8) will be the last school day in February. Due to winter break, NCLS won’t have school on 2/15 and 2/22. The school will resume on 3/1.

Last Saturday, 1/31, NCLS had a very successful Chinese New Year Gala at Regis College, many thanks to school Event Committee (led by Jianhua Huang and Rui Chen), PCC (led by Lei Gao and Hong Guo), admin staff, teachers, MCs, all performing units and parents for their tireless hard work and contribution, which brought us such a memorable night. Thanks again.

Grade Leaders Meeting

Last Sunday, the grade leaders for Chinese classes had a meeting and discussed topics such as classroom management, parent teacher communication, training, speech contest and how to enrich the current teaching materials, etc. The grade leaders will deliver the detailed information to their respective groups.

Class Enrollment

We have found that some students are still not registered for spring semester but continue sitting in the classroom.  Please check the class list from the school system, make sure all students in your classroom are on the list.  Please let us know immediately if any student sits in the classroom but not on the class list.

Classroom Maintenance

This is a repeated topic, but it seems never ending. Here is an email we just received from  the Day school room teacher to complain what happened in her classroom. Please read the email carefully for things that we should pay more attention.

Recently, I have been disappointed in the condition of my classroom after Chinese School. Each Monday, I have to spend an extra 15 minutes cleaning up from Chinese School. As you can imagine, this is very frustrating, as I have to spend valuable school time redoing what I had already set up. This past weekend, for example, I found all of my drawers and cabinets open, all of my desks and chairs were in disarray, my white boards had been erased, my lab table had been tampered with, and there was graffiti on my desks.  Moving forward, I would greatly appreciate it if you spoke to the classroom teacher about my concerns, and gently ask him/her to:

  • 1.Put all stools up on the desks, and leave rows as they are
  • 2. Erase all of your content from my white boards
  • 3. Do NOT “swipe” my objective, agenda and homework board. It is always halfway erased when I return.
  • 4. Do NOT go through my cabinets and other drawers.
  • 5. Do NOT touch materials on the lab prep table (the big table in the middle of the classroom).
  • 6. Clean desks with Lysol spray before you leave, as there are always doodles on them.
  • 7. Make sure all papers are picked up and recycled.

Please repeat the school rule to your class this coming Sunday.
