Chapter 13, Volumes and Surface Areas of Solids

13.1Volumes and total surface areas of a cube and a cuboid

  • concept of net

        A net of a solid is a plane figure that can be folded up to form the solid.

  • volume and total surface

        The volume of cube = x*x*x
        The total surface area of cube = 6x*x
        where x is the length of a side of the cube

        The volume of cuboid = Length x Width x Height = l*w*h
        The total surface area of cuboid = 2*(lw + lh + wh)
