本学年教与学和考核重点之一:提高学生汉语口语叙事讲演水平 Developing Oral Narrative Skills

Developing Oral Narrative Skills for Upper—Intermediate and Advanced Level Students” – The narrative skill – being able to describe events or retell stories in temporal order – is essential to communication. According to ACTFL OPI criteria, the ability to narrative across the major time frames of the past, present, and future in connected, paragraph-length discourse is a major landmark for advanced-level leaners.

Every student will give her/his speech in Chinese in class during 2019-2020 academic year.

Parents – please help your daughter/son develop her/his oral narrative skills in Chinese at home.

Please bring your music instruments to the classroom each Sunday

Please bring your music instruments to the classroom each Sunday.  The players of the same instruments will meet in a small group and have a short practice together.

The students should turn in their homework of Lesson 6 this coming Sunday,10/27/2019.

We will start learning Lesson 7.

陈恩熙, 陈曦, 关锦平 and Kendall Griffith will practice their speech in this Sunday class for the second time.  The rest of students will critique their speeches. Studying other speakers is a critical skill, one of the 25 essential skills for a public speaker. The ability to analyze a speech will accelerate the growth of any speaker.

  1. Please remind your daughter and son to bring her/ his music instrument to the classroom this Sunday, Oct 20.  The players of the same instruments will meet in small groups and have a short practice together.
  2. 陈恩熙, 陈曦, 关锦平 and Kendall Griffith will practice their speeches in front of the entire class this Sunday.  Other students will critique their speeches.  (Studying other speakers is a critical skill, one of the 25 essential skills for a public speaker. The ability to analyze a speech will accelerate the growth of any speaker).
  3. The students should turn in their homework of Lesson 5 this Sunday.
  4. We will start learning Lesson 6.

Lulu Wang (filmmaker)

Early life

Wang was born in Beijing, and was six years old when she and her parents immigrated to MiamiFlorida, where she was raised.[4][5] She began classical piano lessons at age four and attended the New World School of the Arts in Miami for piano performance.[6] Wang graduated from Boston College in 2005 with a double major in literature and music.[3] Shortly after, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in filmmaking. 本学年教程要求每一名学生参加器乐合奏,学会唱两首中文歌曲

本学年教程要求学生学会唱两首中文歌曲,参加器乐合奏(两首中文歌曲)并在2020年一月校内春节联欢会上演出。

以下提供两首中文歌曲的歌词曲谱。有些乐器,需学生根据自己乐器做adaptation, 如 trumpet, trombone, saxophone,  clarinet, Pipa, flute ,等。 根据往年我的教学经验,学生或已具有所需乐理知识或可以琢磨出来。

请家长现在就督促孩子开始着手练习。
