What to bring:

    • You lap top computer (for on-line CollegeBoard SAT Chemistry test practice)

You may also bring any questions you may have from your high school chemistry classes including lab report, homework, test prep questions, etc. to this make-up session.

Chemistry SAT Homework for the week of March 09, 2015

Please study Page 137 to 141, Chapter 10 of Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2013-2014 Edition (College Test Preparation), Princeton Review book.

The key topics are

  • Chemical Equilibrium
  • Le Chatelier’s Principle

These concepts are critically important to the Chapter 11, Acids and Bases

Next Sunday,

  1. We will continue to study Princeton Review Chemistry SAT book Chapter 11, Acids and Bases
  2. We will do the Practice Questions of Chapter 11 that have not covered in March 08 class.

For the  Spring semester, during each class, we go over contents of each chapter (started from Chapter 9 on February 01) first,  then do the Practice Questions at the end of the each chapter together in class.

New AP test (2014 and later)

The 2014 AP Chemistry exam was the first administration of a redesigned test as a result of a redesigning of the AP Chemistry course. The exam format is now different from the past years, with 60 multiple choice questions (now with only four answer choices per question), 3 long free response questions, and 4 short free response questions. The new exam has a focus on longer, more in depth, lab-based questions.

AP Chemistry Test Grade Distribution:

In 2014 (the first test year of the new test design), only 10% of all students who took AP exam scored 5, and 16.6% scored (the worst in five years since 2007)

In 2013 (the last test year before the new test design), 19% of all students who took AP exam scored 5, and 21.5% scored 4

Homework for the week of March 02, 2015

Please try to do Practice Questions Type A, B and C at the end of each chapter, from Chapter 4 through Chapter 10 of Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2013-2014 Edition (College Test Preparation), Princeton Review book.  These are all multiple choice questions, so you should be able to finish them fairly quickly.  Please bring your questions to this coming Sunday class.

This coming Sunday,

  1. We will go over Princeton Review Chemistry SAT book Chapter 11.
  2. We will do the Practice Questions during the class together.

For the  Spring semester, during each class, we go over contents of each chapter (started from Chapter 9 on February 01) first,  then do the Practice Questions at the end of the each chapter together in class.
