Dear Teachers:<\/p>\n
This past Sunday, we have smoothly made\u00a0transition from the Daylight savings time to regular time.\u00a0 Here are some notes for you:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 1. Mid-term exams:\u00a0 A lot of classes have completed mid-term exam last Sunday.\u00a0 After the exam, \u00a0it will be good to\u00a0communicate with parents about the students learning status,\u00a0especially\u00a0for the students who need help in the future study.\u00a0 This school year, one of our emphasis is to strengthen the parent-teacher communication.\u00a0 We strongly suggest all teachers to communicate with parents after the mid-term.<\/p>\n 2. Grade leader meeting:\u00a0We had grade leaders meeting on 11\/2. Thanks a lot to all grade leaders who spent time attending the meeting.\u00a0 Here we outlined what we have\u00a0discussed during the meeting:<\/span><\/p>\n –\u00a0 Thanksgiving party (11\/22), this is the 1st combined teacher appreciation and thanksgiving party. We hope you and your\u00a0family members\u00a0will join this event.\u00a0 Please either inform your grade leaders or send email to Yi Tian at pa@newtonchineseschool.org<\/a> regarding your family head count to attend the party.\u00a0 We need that to plan our dinner.<\/p>\n –\u00a0 We have invited Wang Ruiyun laoshi to update the grade leaders about the feedbacks from the first parent forum held on 10\/26.\u00a0 Based on the feedback,\u00a0 we have asked the grade leaders to discuss three topics with their respective grade teachers:\u00a0 1) Is the homework amount appropriate for our students? 2) With regard to students with different learning abilities, should we\u00a0consider different homework\u00a0load? 3) At the end of the school year, should\u00a0we give\u00a0parents a recommendation with regard to next level study\u00a0for all students?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We hope to further discuss these topics at the next grade leaders meeting.<\/p>\n –\u00a0Chinese Teachers In-School\u00a0Training: \u00a0This year we will have group trainings instead of everyone training together. Please discuss with your grade leaders regarding some possible topics for the training.\u00a0 We will collect the topics at the end of January.\u00a0 The group training time will be at next March to May.<\/p>\n 3. \u00a0Talent show: Under the leadership of Support Chinese Education Group, Chen Hui laoshi, Liang Nan laoshi, and school Event Committee, as well as great support from teachers, students and parents, the annual talent show was successfully accomplished. It’s worth to mention that two groups from our teacher’s club have given wonderful performances at the talent show. Thanks to all for your great support.<\/p>\n The last thing we would like to address here is Food\/Candy\u00a0Policy :<\/p>\n We have recently received some parent emails regarding candy given in the class as the reward for student behavior.\u00a0\u00a0One parent complained that the candy contains nuts and their daughter has nut allergy.\u00a0 In addition,\u00a0some parent\u00a0do not want teachers to give candy as reward due to the concern of\u00a0sweet addiction.\u00a0\u00a0We would like to remind all teachers that the school does not allow any nut contained food given\u00a0out in the class due to food allergy concerns.\u00a0 We have noticed that some teachers\u00a0gave out nut-free candies as reward to student.\u00a0 We suggest these teachers communicate with parents\u00a0and obtain permission.\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0 general, we suggest teachers\u00a0use other means to reward student good behavior other than candy.\u00a0 Last but not least, we would like to remind all teachers that no food would be allowed in the classroom.\u00a0 Families can have food at the first floor cafeteria.<\/p>\n Here is this week’s newsletter to parents: http:\/\/blog.newtonchineseschool.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n Thanks and see you all on Sunday.<\/p>\n Ling and Li<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Dear Teachers: This past Sunday, we have smoothly made\u00a0transition from the Daylight savings time to regular time.\u00a0 Here are some notes for you:\u00a0 1.
