Fire Drill this coming Sunday 10\/5:<\/p>\n<p>We have sent you an email earlier this week regarding the unexpected fire evacuation we had this past Sunday and several safety issues we noticed during the evacuation process.\u00a0 We specifically pointed out that our evacuation time was significantly longer than required\u00a0 due to several classrooms (including cafeteria) \u00a0not leaving the building quickly.\u00a0 This coming Sunday 10\/5, we will have our scheduled fire drill.\u00a0 We need to make sure that all safety requirements are met during this practice.\u00a0 Therefore, please remember to:<\/p>\n<p>* Read the Emergency Procedure\u00a0carefully.\u00a0 We corrected\u00a0couple of typos regarding\u00a0the exit numbers the classrooms are using (for 3rd floor, specifically).\u00a0 Therefore, please read it again, even you had read it before.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newtonchineseschool.org\/evacation.php\">https:\/\/www.newtonchineseschool.org\/evacation.php<\/a><\/p>\n<p>* Please evacuate immediately after the alarm sound.\u00a0 We will have PCC and admin staff to help direct the exits.\u00a0 Please leave the building quickly and orderly.\u00a0 The Emergency Procedure link shows\u00a0the gathering places for different exits.\u00a0 Please stay there and wait for returning instruction.\u00a0 The most important thing is to count the number of your students before and after the fire drill.<\/p>\n<p>Please take all safety issues seriously as maintaining a safe and healthy school is NCLS&#8217; top priority. We thank you for your cooperation and support.<\/p>\n<p>2. Parking:\u00a0 Recently we found quite a few cars that parked inside without parking permit. Here is the list of vehicles that parked inside on Sunday without parking tag: 9927RO, 8525TI, 2306JE, 767VP9, 518KK4, 236MDO, 9572DM, US23HC, 529YE6; If you have teacher parking permit, please hang in front of \u00a0your car. We are inspecting the parking lot on Sundays to make sure that cars without the parking tag stay out of the campus parking.\u00a0 Newton City informed us that this past Sunday Newton Police issued 35 tickets to our parents&#8217; cars for illegal parking.\u00a0 Please make sure that your car parked in the right place if you park outside the campus.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 No business solicitation inside the school building:\u00a0 A salesperson\u00a0was found selling products and collecting student personal info inside one of our classroom. Later one parent reported to us about this incident.\u00a0 Please note that any kind of business solicitation are not allowed in our school. If you find this kind of activity in the future, please inform school admin staff.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Building needs to be cleared by 5:30pm for clean up. Unless we have special event planned after 5pm, all have to leave the building by 5:30pm for\u00a0clean up.\u00a0 We have notified by Newton Operation Manager that this rule has to be enforced.\u00a0 Since the building opens early now, we can have more teacher&#8217;s activity planned during the early time.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0September pay has been processed and the check\u00a0delivery date is 10\/8.\u00a0 Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the pay after you receive it.<\/p>\n<p>This past Saturday, NCLS had two groups of teachers and staff attended two activities. One group which led by principal Ling Zheng attended national day at City Hall and\u00a0did fantastic job to expose NCLS to the public. Another group, led by vice principal, Li Lai, attended the annual Teacher&#8217;s Appreciation Lunch hosted by NEACS(\u65b0\u82f1\u683c\u5170\u4e2d\u6587\u5b66\u6821\u534f\u4f1a\uff09. During the meeting, NCLS \u738b\u745e\u4e91teacher gave a speech in regarding to her unique teaching skills and triggered great interest from peer school teachers. After that, NCLS along with other schools participated the Chinese cultural contest hosted by Lexington Chinese School and won the 2nd place.
