{"id":1345,"date":"2013-09-26T23:07:51","date_gmt":"2013-09-27T03:07:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.newtonchineseschool.org\/teachers\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2013-10-03T08:50:44","modified_gmt":"2013-10-03T12:50:44","slug":"letter-to-ncls-teachers-on-26-sep-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.newtonchineseschool.org\/teachers\/2013\/09\/26\/letter-to-ncls-teachers-on-26-sep-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter to NCLS Teachers on 26-Sep-2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Teachers,<\/p>\n<p>Hope\u00a0you had a good start of the school year!<\/p>\n<p>In this week&#8217;s newsletter, we would like to inform you an incident that happened during last Sunday&#8217;s school time. This incident brought up a high level of safety alert to us and we want to make sure that all teachers\u00a0are aware that safety is the top priority\u00a0of our school operation.<\/p>\n<p>During last Sunday&#8217;s first class period, a six year old student was\u00a0left behind in the bathroom during the bathroom break time.\u00a0\u00a0 The student could not find the way back to the classroom and subsequently got lost in the building.\u00a0 Finally he was found crying on 2nd floor by a parent on duty and brought to the library.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the classroom teacher and TA had never noticed the missing of the student, even though the student&#8217;s backpack and books\u00a0were left in the classroom all the time.\u00a0 The incident caused the rage of the parent and our attention to the safety practice in the school.<\/p>\n<p>As you all know, safety is\u00a0our\u00a0school&#8217;s biggest liability and we do not tolerate any unsafe practice at NCLS.\u00a0\u00a0 This incident is surely a lesson for the classroom teacher and TA.\u00a0 We hope it bring all teachers&#8217; attention to the safety matters, \u00a0therefore we can avoid any such incident happen in the future.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure we have a safe learning environment, we want to remind all teachers to do the following:<\/p>\n<p>1. Starting this coming Sunday, all teachers should take rosters(\u70b9\u540d)based on the updated student list in the system.\u00a0 If you have trouble print out the student list, please let us know, we will print out for you.\u00a0 Teacher should know how many students in his\/her class and get to know the student faces.<\/p>\n<p>2. If the teacher or TA takes children to bathroom or give students a break, please make sure that ALL students return to the classroom afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>3. If you have any safety concerns or noticed any issues, please inform our school admin immediately.\u00a0 We need to resolve those issues as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>In this weeks newsletter to parents, we also\u00a0remind the parents that they need to\u00a0inform the\u00a0teacher if the student\u00a0would be absent from the class.\u00a0 We want to make sure that they are in safe hands if they are not in NCLS classroom.<\/p>\n<p>We also will email all TAs regarding the safety issue.\u00a0 TAs should take\u00a0active role in bathroom break and class release.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, this Sunday, please have a talk with your students regarding bathroom use.\u00a0 We have received a complaint from Day school that the bathroom use by NCLS was unacceptable.\u00a0 In both\u00a0men and women bathrooms, the toilet paper and paper towel were thrown in wrong places,\u00a0urine was on the floor.\u00a0 \u00a0All of these\u00a0made the\u00a0cleaning job very difficult and also created an\u00a0unhealthy\u00a0environment for our students.\u00a0 Please let all students know that we should treat the Day school property with\u00a0respect.\u00a0 We should\u00a0show our NCLS spirit of kind and consideration.<\/p>\n<p>Last reminder that we will have a fire drill at 2:30pm this Sunday. \u00a0Note that the designated gathering place is behind the building:\u00a0http:\/\/newtonchineseschool.org\/evacation.php<\/p>\n<p>See you all this Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Guangsong and Ling<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Teachers, Hope\u00a0you had a good start of the school year!
