Welcome new friend Gioia! ^_^

Congratulations to the Top 3 in Kahoot! game today: Max, Susan, Annabelle ^_^

Today we learned Ch.10 Units Digits. Here are the blackboard notes in class for your review.

Homework:

  • p.182 Ex.10.2.1 (h,m,q,t), 10.2.4 to10.2.6
  • p.185 Ex.10.3.1 (c,g,h,i), 10.3.3
  • p.188 Ex.10.4.1, 10.4.3, 10.4.4 (a)
  • p.189 Ex.10.20, 10.23, 10.27
  • p.190 Ex.10.37, 10.41

Extra Resource:

Summary:

  • For +,-,X of positive integers, the units digit of the result is determined solely by the units digits of all the integers involved.
  • However, the division can not apply this rule.
  • Problem-solving: hunt for patterns 🙂

Take care and see you next week!

Ch. 9 Base Number Arithmetic

We learned +,-,*,/ of base numbers today, and played another Kahoot! game.

Congratulations to the Top 3 students: Susan, Max, and Jason!

Extra Resource:

Homework:

  • p.165 Ex.9.2.1 (b,d,f,j)
  • p.168 Ex.9.3.1 (a,d,e,i)
  • p.170 Ex.9.4.1 (a,d,f)
  • p.172 Ex.9.5.1(a,d,b,e), 9.5.2, 9.5.4
  • p.173 Ex.9.15 (d), 9.16 (e)
  • p.174 Ex.9.17

I have sent the feedback to the Bonus Test via email. Please check it (no worry about the score, as we have only 6 questions, and it only counted the final answer, without giving credit to your process), and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. (We may take the final exam online this semester. Most likely I will design another Google Form:P )

Take care and see you next week. We will learn Ch. 10 Units Digits then!

SAT Practice Test 5 Discussion

Sorry, we had no time to discuss the examples in Ch.22 Circles today. It’s an important unit in SAT Math. Can I trust you guys to learn by yourself, finish the 5 example problems, and do the chapter exercise (Page. 196-199) on your own?

Let me see how is everything going! Again, remember to turn in your work in Google Classroom by each Saturday night:) See you next Sunday! We will go over the questions in Ch.22 and learn Ch.23 Trigonometry then!

Dear students,

We have no online class this week. Please log in to your Google Classroom and download the SAT Practice Test 5 and finish it by next Saturday night. Again, please submit the number of problems that you would love Ms. Li to explain in class.

Take care and see you next week!

Best,

Lijia

Lesson review

  • A numeral is a representation of a number.
  • Base number systems
  • Base (radix, or scale)

Homework

  • p.142 Ex.8.2.1(a) (d)
  • p.145 Ex.8.3.1(b), 8.3.2(c), 8.3.3, 8.3.6(a)(d)(g)
  • p.148 Ex.8.4.2
  • p.152 Ex.8.5.2(a)(c), 8.5.3(a), 8.5.4
  • P158 Ex.8.6.2 (a,c,d,e), 8.6.4
  • p160 Ex.8.23
  • Ex. 8.6.2, please use a “smart” way to convert. For example, from 3^2 to 3, from 2^4 to 2, from n to n-1, try to think about the methods we explained in the class.
  • Extra Resources

*Another way to determine Perfect/Abundant/Deficient Number

Thanks to Jason’s Daddy’s sharing!

for example, 300 = 2^2  × 3 × 5^2.

The sum of all positive divisors of 300

=(4+2+1)x(3+1)x(25+5+1)

=7x4x31=868 > 2 x 300.

Therefore 300 is abundant.

See you next next Sunday!

According to NCLS calendar, there is no school next week (4/12).

Please take care and stay healthy!

We are going to learn Ch.9 Base Number Arithmetic on 4/19.
